How many grains of sand fit in every bathtub in Vermont?

1.  Background Story:
The question I thought of was: How many grains of sand fit in every bathtub in VT?
I originally thought to do How many grains of sand are in the sahara desert but then realized how hard that would be so i made it smaller and into all the bathtubs in VT still fairly big but not that big.
2.  Ask Yourself This:  [a]
How many grains of sand fit in a cubic foot?
How many cubic feet in a bathtub?
How many bathtubs in VT?
3.  Helpful Hints:
3,600,000 grains of sand per cubic foot.                        Answers.com
61”x33”x21” average bathtub measurements.                                Answers.com
324,389 houses in VT.                                                  quickfacts.census.gov
about 1.5 bathtubs per house                                                         Estimate
324,389x1.5= 486,583.5 bathtubs in VT                                                 Estimate
4.  Construct a Formul[b]a:
I’m going to multiply my bathtub measurements to see how many cubic inches are in one bathtub. Then multiply how many grains of sand fit in a cubic foot to get how many grains of sand fit in a cubic inch. Then take the number of grains of sand that fit in a cubic inch and multiply it by how many cubic inches are in one bathtub to find out how many grains of sand fit in one bathtub. Finally I’ll multiply the number of sand grains that fit in one bathtub by the number of bathtubs in Vermont and get my final answer of how many grains of sand fit in every bathtub in Vermont.
grains of sand/ cubic foot x cubic inches/ bathtub= grains of sand/ bathtub. Grains of sand/ bathtub x bathtubs in VT= grains of sand in all the bathtubs in Vt
5.  Messy Math:
61”x33”x21”=42,273 cubic inches per bathtub
3,600,000 grains of sand/ cubic foot x12^[c]3 (1,728) =6,220.8 grains of sand in a cubic inch
42,273 cubic inches x 6,220.8x 10^6 grains of sand = 262,961,878.4x10^6 grains per bathtub
262,961,878.4x10^6 grains per bathtub x 486,583.5 bathtubs in VT =127,752,921,095,446.4 grains of sand in every bathtub in VT

6.  Answer:
There would be 127,752,921,095,446.4  grains of sand in every bathtub in VT.
